The CES show hasn't started yet and announcements from manufacturers are pouring in. LG has clearly taken the lead with the launch of new office monitors and OLED TVs that will be showcased during the event.
New announcement from the Korean brand, this time introducing a new Oled gaming screen in 1440p resolution, capable of reaching a refresh rate of up to 480 Hz, the fastest in its category.
480 Hz in a 1440p OLED screen, a first
Screens with very high refresh rates will be more and more common on the market in 2024, such as the Asus ROG Swift PG248QP at 540 Hz and the future LG 32GS95UE at 480 Hz. However, these two screens only display a resolution of 1080p Therefore, it is the first time that an Oled model in QHD (2,560 x 1,440) offers such fluidity.
Of course, the screen benefits from all the advantages of OLED, namely infinite contrast, a near-instant response time (around 0.03 ms gray-to-gray) and perfect viewing angles. The panel will feature META technology, which integrates the MLA microlens layer, for additional brightness gain, improved colorimetric accuracy and even improved viewing angles.
Market launch within 6 months
If LG intends to show this Oled screen during CES 2024, it should launch in the first half of the year, with no further details revealed. Meanwhile, the manufacturer recently introduced no less than six more models, from the 49-inch ultrawide to the 27-inch 240 Hz model, all in OLED.
