(CNN)— Glynis Johns, British actress remembered for her iconic role as Mrs. Banks in 1964's “Mary Poppins,” has died at the age of 100.

Johns' longtime manager, Mitch Clem, told CNN that he died “peacefully” Thursday morning at a nursing home in Los Angeles, where he had lived for the past few years. He is survived by his grandson Thomas and three great-grandchildren, Clem said.

The cause of death has not yet been determined.

“Glynis made her way through life with intelligence, wit and love of acting, impacting millions of lives,” Clem said in a statement Thursday. “She came into my life early in my career and set the bar very high for how to handle this industry with grace, class and truth.”

Johns' career as a film, television and theater actress has spanned nearly nine decades.
