TEHRAN, Jan. 5 (Xinhua) — The death toll from a double terrorist bombing in southeastern Iran's Kerman province has risen to 89, the official IRNA news agency reported on Friday.
The increase was due to several injured people succumbing to their injuries in the hospital, the authority said, citing an official.
Among the dead are 12 children, 33 women and 12 Afghan citizens.
The double attack occurred as an event commemorating Iranian General Qassem Soleimani was taking place in Kerman on Wednesday. A total of 284 people were injured.
On Thursday, the Islamic State claimed responsibility for the deadly explosions and said two of its suicide bombers had used explosive belts in the “operations,” the report added. End
