Best friends Amanda Holden and Alan Carr have returned for a second season of Amanda & Alan's Italian Job.
The first season, which saw the pair transform a run-down Sicilian apartment they bought for just €1 before selling it for charity, grew out of Amanda's desire to do something good for Alan after his divorce.
Alan and his party planner husband announced their separation in January 2022 after 13 years together and three years of marriage.
But how did the pair become such close friends, now that they're closer than ever, and what do they do off screen?
Find out how they met and more below.
Best friends Amanda Holden and Alan Carr have returned for a second season of Amanda & Alan's Italian Job
Alan and Amanda met in the first series of his Channel 4 show Alan Carr Chatty Man in 2009 and she appeared a further seven times
Alan and Amanda met in 2009 on the first series of his Channel 4 show Alan Carr Chatty Man.
Over the next seven years, she appeared on the funny man's sofa seven more times as the couple grew closer and closer.
It even convinced the pair to appear on an episode of ITV show DNA Journey to find out if they were in a distant relationship – but to no avail.
Two years before them, in 2019, the two icons Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly surprisingly discovered that they were distantly related.
Appearing on Heart Breakfast after her episode aired, the Britain's Got Talend presenter said: “There's no connection between us other than we love each other, but all this time I've been hoping…”
“I had hoped all along that I was related to Alan Carr… but we’re not.”
Alan, who appeared as a guest on the radio show, joked: “I was scared of being related to Amanda because I saw how Ant and Dec were related and I thought, 'Oh no, no, no.' “
“But then of course we would see our relatives and I would be surprised to literally walk behind that door and there would be your relative.”
“So we went there and Amanda didn't know who they were related to except me and Amanda, and I'm not being rude…”
“They hoped it was me!”
In 2021, they also appeared on the ITV show DNA Journey, in the small hope that their affection for each other was based on a kinship
As they discussed the program, the two joked that all the strangers they met preferred the possibility of a kinship with Alan over Amanda
Alan gave Amanda her 52nd birthday cake last year – a baked bidet
Amanda saw the funny side and added: “Everyone was so funny, they didn't know who was coming around the corner and of course they see Alan and they all pray that they have Alan as a relative!”'
And since then the duo have only grown closer together, with Alan revealing that their shared renovation project was a big part of it.
He told The Sun: “Amanda and I were showbiz friends but by the end of the summer we were such good friends. “We text all the time.”
Renovating wasn't all they did while filming the first season in Italy, and Amanda also admitted she was trying to find Alan a new man.
So 2023 became the year in which they reached their friendship peak.
Alan presented the radio presenter with her 52nd birthday cake – a baked bidet in reference to a joke that arose from their filming together – last February, accompanied by some of her other showbiz colleagues including Alesha Dixon, Ashlee Roberts and Simon Cowell.
Despite their busy work schedule, they always seem to find time for evenings together and sometimes even attend red carpet events together.
Amanda and Alan teamed up at the Attitude Awards in October, which they hosted in a couple's outfit as Margot Robbie's Barbie and Michael Cera's character Allan Sherwood, respectively.

Amanda rang in the New Year in style with her best friend with a wild party at Estelle Manor, Oxfordshire
They also rounded off the year together at a wild party at Estelle Manor, Oxfordshire.
The 52-year-old Britain's Got Talent judge shared a fun gallery of Instagram snaps documenting the evening alongside her daughters Lexi, 17, Hollie, 11, and a group of her pals.
Ahead of filming the new season of her Italian Job, Amanda said she was “delighted” to be back – no doubt because the pair shared their hilarious experiences together over the months of filming.
In one instance, Amanda filmed herself pranking her co-star by sneaking up from behind and scaring him, prompting Alan to exclaim that she was a “little slut.”
Her new show starts at 8.30pm on BBC One.
