Big farewell to a great statesman: The city of Offenburg (Ortenaukreis) pays its last respects to Wolfgang Schäuble this Friday and organizes an extensive ceremony in memory of its honorary citizen. Hundreds of guests arrived, including CDU Federal President Friedrich Merz and Federal Interior Minister Nancy Faeser (SPD). After a funeral and a funeral procession through the city, long-time CDU federal politician Wolfgang Schäuble will be buried in the Waldbach cemetery.

Funeral service with family members and political celebrities
As planned, the funeral began at 11 am at the Evangelical Church of the City, Schäuble's home community. The deceased's coffin is draped in a federal flag.
