Detroit Lions WR Amon-Ra St. Brown heated up about 2024 Pro Bowl snub – Pride Of Detroit

Detroit Lions wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown didn't make the 2024 Pro Bowl inaugural squad, and he clearly wasn't happy about it.

“I was excited,” St. Brown told reporters Thursday.

The Lions receiver made the Pro Bowl last year but was a late addition. There's a risk he could be one of the late additions again this year, as he finished as the top alternate in the NFC this year.

The four NFC receivers who made the Pro Bowl list ahead of St. Brown were CeeDee Lamb of the Cowboys, AJ Brown of the Eagles, Mike Evans of the Buccaneers and Puka Nacua of the Rams. St. Brown gave credit to the four players but clearly believed he was part of the group that will travel to Orlando a week before the Super Bowl.

St. Brown certainly has a case. Here's a look at his statistical production compared to the other four (sorted by receiving yards):

Lamb: 122 catches, 1,651 yards, 10 touchdowns
Brown: 105 catches, 1,447 yards, 7 touchdowns
Nacua: 101 catches, 1,445 yards, 5 touchdowns
St. Brown: 112 catches, 1,371 yards, 9 touchdowns
Evans: 76 catches, 1,233 yards, 13 touchdowns

St. Brown also has a higher PFF grade (90.0) than Nacua (88.2) and Evans (83.4), and is right there with Brown (90.2) and Lamb (90.7).

It should come as no surprise that St. Brown plans to use this snub as fuel as the team prepares for the playoffs.

“I don’t think I did enough during the season, so I need to try harder,” St. Brown said.

While St. Brown didn't make the Pro Bowl, five of his teammates did: tight end Sam LaPorta, center Frank Ragnow, right tackle Penei Sewell, edge defender Aidan Hutchinson and special teamer Jalen Reeves-Maybin.
