Margot Robbie, Jennifer Lawrence, Leonardo DiCaprio, Bradley Cooper, Lily Gladstone, Martin Scorsese and Emma Stone are some of the stars who, at the end of the 81s, proudly brandish a statuette or, on the contrary, go home empty-handede The Golden Globes ceremony will take place on January 7th at the Beverly Hilton. Analysis…

Following the scandal that rocked the Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA), Golden Globes evening will be broadcast on CBS for the first time since 1982. This year is also the first under the new reign of Dick Clarke and Eldridge Productions, which also marks a renewal at the voting member level with a desire for transparency and inclusivity. To bring back burned-out viewers, the organization has also created two new categories: that of cinematic and financial achievement and that of the best stage comedians on television.
The best films
There are undoubtedly a lot of people at the fair in both categories this year. Obviously, the Golden Globe for best film, comedy or musical is given to the best BARBIE, by Greta Gerwig, with Margot Robbie in the title role. With worldwide sales of $1.44 billion and its position at the top of the rankings of the highest-grossing feature films of the year, Barbie appears to have a bright future this film awards season. But we can still bet that the Golden Globes' new entrants will be tempted to reward Yorgos Lanthimos' surprise “Poor Creatures” or Ben Affleck's “Very Good Air.”

In the Best Film, Drama category, the fight promises to be heated. The big favorite is undoubtedly OPPENHEIMER, by Briton Christopher Nolan. But the remarkable thing THE AMERICAN TOUCH, by Martin Scorsese – which also focuses on abuses against the Osage Indian tribe – could well win the coveted statuette, even if the members of the Golden Globes vote less politically and strategically than those of the Academy at the Oscars. “Maestro,” directed by Bradley Cooper, who also plays the lead role, or “Anatomy of a Fall” could provide a surprise.
P.-S.: Even the AI predicted Oppenheimer's victory, that says it all.
The best actresses
If the trend continues, MARGOT ROBBIE is named Best Actress in a Comedy or Musical for her Barbie, of which she is also a producer, as the Golden Globes organization has always focused on popular successes…sometimes to the detriment of more “serious” works. Emma Stone, the star of Poor Creatures, will still overshadow her a little, as will Fantasia Barrino, the excellent Celie in the brand new – and inspiring – color purple. On the other hand, you have to admit that Jennifer Lawrence, Natalie Portman and Alma Poysti have no chance.

In the “Drama” category LILY GLADSTONE, unforgettable as Mollie Burkhart in The American Note, will almost certainly win the statuette. If so, she would be the first local actress to win the Golden Globe. Unfortunately, Carey Mulligan's impressive performance in Maestro won't be enough to secure her win, and neither Annette Bening, Sandra Huller, Greta Lee, nor Cailee Spaeny will hold the Golden Globe.
The best actors
It's not easy to decide which actors to nominate for their performances in a drama. CILLIAN MURPHY Will he capitalize on the wave of support for Oppenheimer by collecting the trophy? The extraordinary BRADLEY COOPER as Leonard Bernstein in Maestro deserves the award as well as the very good LEONARDO DICAPRIO in The American Touch. And despite excellent performances, Barry Keoghan, Colman Domingo and Andrew Scott are beaten in advance.

PS: If Leonardo DiCaprio wins his third Golden Globe, he will tie Tom Hanks and Jack Nicholson.
Things are just as close between the actors in a comedy or a musical. How can you not have a crush on the energetic and cheerful Wonka from? TIMOTHEE CHALAMET? But PAUL GIAMATTI When the sensitive teacher in Those Who Remain also found favor, the actor would then receive his third Golden Globe. MATT DAMONexcellent Sonny Vaccaro in Air, JOAQUIN PHOENIXlike himself in Beau is afraid, NICOLAS CAGE in a dream scenario or even JEFFREY WRIGHT in American Fiction also have every chance of winning the trophy.
