Michael Bolton reveals brain tumor diagnosis and 'immediate surgery' in emotional message to fans

Michael Bolton is getting back on his feet after a health scare last year.

The “When A Man Loves A Woman” singer, 70, penned a heartfelt message to fans on Friday, revealing he was diagnosed with a brain tumor before the holidays that will force him to take a break from performing.

“Shortly before the holidays it was discovered that I had a brain tumor that required immediate surgery. Thanks to my incredible medical team, the surgery was a success,” the singer wrote on Facebook. “I am now recovering at home and surrounded by the tremendous love and support of my family.”

In the statement, the two-time Grammy winner assured fans that over the “next few months” he would dedicate his “time and energy” to his recovery while taking a “temporary break” from touring.

“It's always the hardest thing for me to disappoint my fans or postpone a show, but I have no doubt that I'm working hard to speed up my recovery and get back to performing soon,” Bolton wrote, thanking his fans for their ” Love and…”support” over the years.

“Know that I keep your positive messages in my heart and I will let you know more updates as soon as possible,” he concluded, signing his note with “Love, MB.”

Bolton represented Connecticut in the American Song Contest, NBC's U.S. version of the Eurovision Song Contest, in 2022, performing his original song “Beautiful World” in the semifinals.

At the time, the '90s icon reiterated to The Post how much he enjoyed performing on stage in front of his legions of fans.

“I enjoy having artists perform my songs at these shows,” he said.

“I think it’s funny that people aren’t sure what I do in competition,” the New Haven native said. “I was excited to do it. It kind of brought me back to my roots, trying to create something that I think the world will like… If you want to be an artist in this business, you learn that there are a lot of great singers, but that Don't have a career if you don't have any hits. Songwriting is the source of energy that keeps artists alive. It not only creates careers, it sustains careers.”

Bolton had barely seen the “Eurovision” version of the series before signing up for the “American Song Contest,” but he was inspired to write the utopian ballad “Beautiful World” as a song “very much with the times and the world spoke. “emotional pressure that we are all under”

“It's not to say that someone will wave a magic wand and suddenly everything will be beautiful,” he explained. “On the contrary, we are the ones who have to make the world beautiful.”
