Actor Christian Oliver and his two daughters died in a plane crash

German-born Hollywood actor Christian Oliver died along with his two young daughters in an accident today when the small plane they were traveling on crashed into the Caribbean Sea shortly after takeoff.

Oliver, who starred on the big screen alongside George Clooney in “The Good German” and the 2008 action comedy “Speed ​​​​Racer,” was aboard a private single-engine plane, local police in St. Vincent said and the Grenadines with a statement. Fishermen, divers and the coast guard immediately rushed to the scene and recovered the four bodies of those on the plane.

Oliver, 51, died along with his daughters Madita, 10, and Annik, 12, and pilot Robert Sachs.

The plane flew from Bequia, a small island in the Grenadines, to St. Lucia shortly after midday. The family appeared to be on holiday when, days earlier, Oliver posted a picture of a tropical beach on Instagram with the caption: “Greetings from somewhere in paradise! Here’s to community and love…2024 here we come!”

Oliver, born Christian Klepser, has more than 60 film and television appearances to his credit, including a supporting role in Tom Cruise's “The Valkyrie.” Her early career roles included the TV series “Saved by the Bell: The New Class” and the film “The Baby-Sitters Club.” In his native Germany, Oliver played the lead role in the popular crime series “Cobra 11” for two seasons.
