Michael Bolton revealed he was diagnosed with brain cancer just before the holidays, requiring him to undergo “immediate surgery.”
The 70-year-old “When A Man Loves A Woman” singer, who recently appeared on “The Masked Singer” early last year, took to his Facebook page on Friday and opened up to his fans about his health.
He began: “First of all, I would like to wish everyone a happy and healthy New Year! I would also like to share that 2023 has presented me with some completely unexpected challenges.”
“Shortly before the holidays it was discovered that I had a brain tumor that required immediate surgery.”
The star then positively added: “Thanks to my incredible medical team, the surgery was a success. “I am now recovering at home and surrounded by the enormous love and support of my family.”

Bolton stated that he would be “devoting my time and energy to my recovery” and “taking a temporary break from touring.”
“For me, disappointing my fans or postponing a show is always the hardest thing, but I have no doubt that I am working hard to speed up my recovery and get back to performing soon.”
The performer expressed that he is “extremely grateful for all the love and support you have so generously shown me over the years.”
Finally, Michael added, “Know that I keep your positive messages in my heart, and I will give you more updates as soon as possible. “Love always, MB.”

According to the singer's official website, the Go The Distance hitmaker has various tour dates planned throughout 2024, with concerts originally scheduled to begin on February 1 in Florida.
The star had a busy 2023, including an appearance as a wolf in “The Masked Singer” and also appeared during the Disney Parks Christmas Day Parade last month in December, according to The US Sun.
In a pre-recorded special hosted by Julianne Hough and her brother Derek Hough, Bolton sang the classic “Joy To The World.”

In June 2023, Michael released an album titled “Spark Of Light”, which included tracks such as “Beautiful World” and “Just The Beginning”.
At the time, Bolton discussed the album's message of finding happiness and positivity in difficult times, according to People.
“Basically, we were watching our friends and family and realizing that they all really needed some light, that it was so dark and oppressive, and that we were all basically just carrying a layer of fear.”
He added: “And so we started to feel a sense of responsibility to convey hope and promise and all those feelings that seem so elusive, and it started to become a feel-good record.”
The performer also spoke about fatherhood and the importance of family. He notably shares daughters Isa, Holly and Taryn with his ex-wife Maureen McGuire.
The couple was married from 1975 until their final divorce in 1990. The singer also has six grandchildren.
