For the second year in a row, Quebec is the most visited region in Canada. Hotels account for 77% of traffic and Old Quebec accounts for 90%.
“It was one of the best years. In addition, this service does not even include the evening of the 31st,” explains the general director of the Quebec Hotel Association, Alupa Clarke.
It's the same thing among restaurateurs: It was a busy time.
“For L'Atelier and L'Ophélia restaurants, we are recording a 30% increase compared to last year,” says Jonathan Ollat, president of Action Promotion Grande Allée.
But it wasn't easy everywhere. A decline has been observed in remote regions, which are often popular for winter sports enthusiasts.
This is the case in Stoneham and Mont-Sainte-Anne, where we recorded a 30% drop in ridership on the slopes.
But in the coming weeks we are already expecting heavy traffic related to Carnival, the 70th edition of the Quebec carnival.
“We have already reserved 40% of the rooms for January,” explains Alupa Clarke.
Many of them will therefore brave the cold and enjoy Quebec in the coming weeks.
