  • Ice Cube responded to comedian Katt Williams' comments on Friday After Next on X.
  • Williams said he had a sexual assault scene removed from the film, which Ice Cube denied.
  • Ice Cube also addressed comments that the cast received unfair compensation.

Ice Cube is speaking out after Katt Williams claimed he was advocating for a sexual assault scene to be cut from the 2002 film Friday After Next.

The “Straight Outta Compton” rapper shared a nine minute video to X, formerly known as Twitter, on Friday in response to Williams' comments.

Earlier this week, Williams caused a stir online when he appeared on Shannon Sharpe's podcast “Club Shay Shay,” where he aired his complaints about other comedians – including Steve Harvey and Kevin Hart – as well as other claims about his career in the entertainment industry.

Ice Cube said Williams' comments on Sharpe's podcast were mostly honest, but there were a few things he wanted to “make clear” about “Friday After Next.”

“It's been over 20 years since the movie came out and people have different perspectives,” Ice Cube said.

In the video, Ice Cube refutes claims that the film originally contained a scene in which Williams' character Money Mike was cornered in a bathroom and sexually assaulted by Terry Crews' character Damon.

“I would never do a rape scene in a movie, especially not in 'Friday,' where you actually see it on camera. That’s not my style,” Ice Cube said.

Ice Cube added that the scene was “never a discussion.”

Representatives for Williams did not respond to Business Insider's request for comment, which was made outside of regular work hours.

“The pliers joke was always in the script. We would never show that. That's not my style if you watch any of my films. So it was never a discussion,” Ice Cube said.

He went on to say that the crew didn't change a single scene to appease any actor.

“At this point in everyone's career, we'll listen to some degree, but we weren't planning on changing the film for that. For every actor, you know?” he said in the video. “We do what we feel and if it was a rape scene it would have been in the film. There was no reason not to shoot it. But that’s not my style.”

In the video, Ice Cube also addressed Williams' claims that he wrote his lines as Money Mike in the film.

“The role was written, but he improved it. That’s why Katt was so great in the movie,” Ice Cube said. “Money Mike had a small role, about the same size as Santa Claus, but when we started filming he showed a lot of magic, so we kept expanding the role and giving him more to do because he got it straight.”

Ice Cube ended the video by addressing “Friday” franchise members who had been critical of their pay. Faizon Love – who appeared in 1995's “Friday” – told Comedy Hype in December 2021, according to Billboard, that he refused to return for another film because of compensation.

“They wanted to give me a double graduation. So the sliding scale was $2,500, right? So the double sliding scale was $5,000,” Love said. “The day after I said 'no,' I got a call to do a movie for Warner Brothers called The Replacements and they paid me $100,000. So I’m not crazy.”

There were also rumors that Chris Tucker, who appeared in Friday, refused to reprise his role due to financial constraints. In December 2021, Ice Cube rejected The claim in an X post added that Tucker resigned for religious reasons.

On Friday, Ice Cube said: “If an actor is angry about how much they were paid, look at what you've done, look at where your career was then and where it is now, and I believe “'Friday' did this.” had something to do with it.

He added: “I put a lot of people in films but they never put me in a film. You can see it as worth it. I've given these guys a lot of opportunities and I'm still acting, so that's what I do.” “I'm waiting for a call. I don’t have to produce or write everything.”

During his “Club Shay Shay” interview, Williams criticized several comedians and actors in Hollywood, including Rickey Smiley, Ludacris and Cedric the Entertainer.

While Ludacris responded to X with a rap diss, Hart called Williams “sad” in a post on Thursday.

“I need to raise the anger beyond the champion,” Hart wrote, referring to Williams.
