Concerns about Jordan Dumais' health; he will leave for Columbus on Sunday

The Halifax Mooseheads are holding their breath: the health of their star striker Jordan Dumais is worrying.

According to information gathered, the Columbus Blue Jackets prospect sustained an injury to both hips during Team Canada's junior selection camp a few weeks ago, an issue he has been dealing with for several seasons. Because of this injury, Dumais was even preemptively withdrawn from the second game against U Sports' University Stars.

However, it appears that this injury bothered Dumais throughout the World Cup, during which he disappointed offensively, picking up just two points in five games.

To see things more clearly, Dumais will head to Columbus on Sunday to undergo extensive testing with the Blue Jackets entourage.

Not ideal for mooseheads

This is a difficult situation for the Mooseheads as the Nova Scotia team is aiming for top honors this season and losing its best offensive element would be a major blow to the team led by Jim Midgley.

Additionally, teams can trade in the QMJHL until noon on Saturday. Mooseheads general manager Cam Russell has to work in uncertainty, not knowing whether Dumais, his forward, will be out for an extended period of time or whether surgery will be necessary.

Remember, Dumais scored 109 and 140 points the last two seasons. Before joining Junior Team Canada, he scored 47 points in 21 games.
