A New Zealand fisherman fell into the sea and was saved by the clock's reflection

On January 2nd, Will Fransen from New Zealand went fishing with his boat. He hooked a marlin, a large fish, and when he tried to pull it out, he said it fell into the water.

He says he spent the next 23 hours in the water without a life jacket. At one point a shark even swam near him.

In an interview with a New Zealand broadcaster, he explained that he was generally an optimistic person, but that he was aware that the chances of survival were slim.

Fransen's luck was that he noticed a boat sailing in the area. He claims that he used the reflection of his watch to attract this ship's attention.

James McDonnell, one of the people involved in the rescue on January 3, said that Fransen was pulled from the sea very pale and his body was very cold.

“It's an incredible story and I don't know if many people would believe us if he wasn't here to tell us,” he said.

The fisherman said he suffered burns from the wind and pain in his body, but beyond that he suffered nothing. He also explained that this will improve the safety of the boat.
