Connor Bedard on injured reserve

The Chicago Blackhawks placed Connor Bedard on injured reserve Saturday afternoon, saying he was suffering from a broken jaw.

On Friday, in the first period of the game against the New Jersey Devils, the young prodigy was hit hard when Brendan Smith entered the zone. The first pick in the last draft immediately retreated to the locker room and did not return to the game afterward. Watch the incident in question in the video above.

An altercation immediately broke out on the ice rink. Smith then had to answer for his actions by fighting Nick Foligno.

However, the latter was injured during the sequence. Because he broke a finger, his name was also put on the injured list.

Since misfortune never happens alone, it not only results in the loss of Bedard's services, The Hawks lost 4-2.

They return to action on Sunday with a visit to the Calgary Flames at the United Center.
