2024 has officially started: The players are now looking to the future. A future that looks diverse for them, at least on Steam. This is evidenced by the list of games that are most anticipated by players on the platform.
Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2
Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 is the tenth most anticipated game by players on Steam. Set in Seattle, this role-playing game in which the player plays an ancient vampire has been popular for a long time. In fact, the first episode was released in 2004 and attracted press and audiences. In 2019, a sequel was presented by Paradox Interactive. But since then development has been chaotic and changed hands. Now The Chinese Room is responsible and has announced a release in late 2024 on PC, Xbox Series and PlayStation 5. A long gameplay video will be presented during the month of January.
nightingale
Nightingale is a game developed by Inflexion Games: a studio founded by former Bioware employees (Mass Effect, Anthem, the first Baldur's Gate, etc.). It is part of a fantasy universe where the player plays a realmwalker. The latter must navigate between kingdoms to find Nightingale, “the last known bastion of humanity,” according to his Steam page. A quest to traverse the fantastic worlds that the game offers: survival, resource management and of course combat will be a part of it.
Palworld
Palworld is the eighth most desired game by players on Steam. It must be said that the title developed by Pocketpair is fascinating. It's an open-world multiplayer survival game that seems to mix Pokémon with… Fortnite. Pocket monsters here are called Pal and serve as workers for the players. Obviously they are used to fight other friends on the street, but also to build buildings and structures. Palworld will be available in Early Access in January.
Wrapped up
It is the third survival game that is one of the most anticipated Steam games of 2024. Like Palworld, Enshrouded will start its Early Access in January 2024, more precisely on January 24, 2024. The title developed by Keen Games GmbH could well appeal to them. As we explained in 2023, Enshrouded is not familiar with the genre. In addition to the numerous creative possibilities in terms of construction that it seems to offer, Enshrouded is set in a fantastic universe and does not forget to guide the player through a main campaign. It's definitely one of the games to watch at the start of the year.

STALKER 2: Heart of Chernobyl
STALKER 2: Heart of Chernobyl is the sequel to STALKER: Shadow of Chernobyl. It takes the same context as its predecessor, namely the Chernobyl zone in Ukraine in 2006 after the explosion of a reactor at a nuclear power plant. As a sequel to an excellent game, STALKER 2 is even more anticipated given its release 17 years later. An Arlesian, particularly prolonged by the Russian-Ukrainian conflict. The title promises, among other things, an open world with “varied environments”, adaptive artificial intelligence and a “non-linear story with many endings”.
Frostpunk 2
Winter is coming (back). With Frostpunk 2, 11 Bit Studio is back at the start and its management game takes place in a universe completely covered in snow. 30 years after the apocalyptic frost of Frostpunk, the player still has to deal with a harsh and icy climate. As for the novelty, the studio explains that players will be able to divide their city according to the functions of each district. The population then splits into factions that differ based on their ideologies. Therefore, the players also have to ensure peace as administrators and diplomats.
Black Myth: Wukong
Black Myth: Wukong could well join Genshin Impact on the list of Chinese games that are a hit in the West. Developed by Game Science, the title is a video game reinterpretation of “Journey to the West,” one of the four extraordinary novels of Chinese literature. In a game that combines role-playing and action, the player plays the role of the predestined on a trip to India. An adventure that the studio has set in the dark fantasy style, with impressively designed monsters, which are also a sign of demanding gameplay. What will it actually be? Hollow Knight: Silksong
Like STALKER 2 and Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2, Hollow Knight: Silksong is one of the most highly anticipated games of recent years. The second work was presented for the first time in 2019 with a gameplay sequence showing Hornet's abilities: one of the main characters from the first episode will be the playable protagonist in this second work. Silksong will be presented again at an Xbox/Bethesda conference in 2022: Microsoft promises that the title, which will be included in Xbox Game Pass, will be released in the next 365 days. But in May 2023, Matthew Griffin finally explains that the title has been postponed to a date that is still unknown. Since Silksong was scheduled to release in May 2023, we can expect the title to be released this year (without certification).

Manor Lords is the second most popular game on Steam. This is the big surprise of this ranking, as it may seem surprising that it is more highly anticipated than Hollow Knight: Silksong. This title was developed by a single developer (which can justify its fame) under the pseudonym Slavic Magic and published by Hodded Horse (the recent Against the Storm is a hit). It offers the player the opportunity to embody the life of a ruler in the Middle Ages. You have to manage the construction of your city, specialize your colonies, but also manage your environment and its resources. Of course, conflicts are also part of it. You have to train your residents, have a militia and lead battles in real time. Clashes that depend primarily on the player's diplomacy.

And that's why Hades 2 is officially the most anticipated title by gamers on Steam.
