Israel approves economic aid plan for mobilized reservists

The plan calls for providing 9,000 million Israeli shekels around 2,240 million euros at the current exchange rate as economic support for reservists who had to give up their jobs and families after 360,000 people were mobilized for the largest recall in Israel's history.

According to the Israeli prime minister, the aid plan includes “subsidies and compensation” for reservists, as well as “discounts and benefits for their families, partners and children,” as well as for reservists who worked independently.

“I want the reservists to receive money immediately. They are true heroes. They left their homes to defend our homeland,” Netanyahu said today at the weekly meeting of his ruling coalition’s Cabinet of Ministers.

According to the authorities, the plan presented today will be implemented in three phases that will involve the distribution of funds.

In total, around 510 soldiers have died in the conflict since the Hamas attack on October 7th, and 176 since the Israeli ground offensive in Gaza began on October 27th. In total, more than 2,300 soldiers were injured.

The Islamist group's Oct. 7 attack, which fired rockets while infiltrating thousands of militiamen, left 1,200 people dead and led to the kidnapping of another 250 in Jewish settlements on the edge of the Gaza Strip.

The Israeli response caused a high level of infrastructure destruction in the Gaza Strip, with Hamas recording more than 22,800 deaths from Israeli bombings.
