David Foster's daughter, Amy S. Foster, defended him after an Instagram user criticized his parenting on Friday.
The 50-year-old songwriter hit back at claims that the 74-year-old musician abandoned his older children for his two-year-old baby son Rennie, insisting their relationship is “great.”
“We love our dad,” she responded to a social media user's comment on the music producer's Instagram post of Rennie drumming to Michael Jackson's “Rock With You.”
“Our dad loves us and we love how our dad treats Rennie,” she continued of her half-sibling — David's only son and only child with his now wife Katharine McPhee, 38.
Amy is one of David's five daughters, who also include: Allison Jones Foster, 53; Sara Foster, 42; Erin Foster, 41; and Jordan Foster, 37.

David's post, showcasing his young son's musical talent on drums, received tons of praise and compliments.
One Instagram user pointed out Rennie's obvious inherited talent, writing: “If it's you [sic] “Father is David Foster.”
In response to this comment, one person wrote: “Lol!!!! He is the father… He also has daughters (whom he abandoned) who are older than me…
Amy then defended her father and shut down the claims by leaving a lengthy comment in response.
“Hello…I'm a daughter…absolutely no abandonment,” she wrote, adding that she “literally just spoke to my dad five minutes ago.”
She also admonished the person behind the comment for leaving a negative comment under a cute video of her little brother drumming.
She continued, “Are you advocating for us?” It's so hard to say these days…you see a video of an amazing two-year-old and what you take away from it [sic] is something negative?
“You just have to look at the comments and Rennie's sisters have all reached out with compliments,” she added. 'Were great. We love our father. “Our dad loves us and we love how our dad treats Rennie.”

About a year ago, in January 2023, David spoke to People about raising a toddler at the age of 73 at the time, saying he hoped to be more present than he was when he was working long hours while raising his older children.
“At this point in my life, things are different again,” he told the outlet. “Not better or worse, just different.” “I still work, I still travel a lot, but maybe time is a little more precious to me because I have more runway behind me now than in front of me.”
In a separate interview published by People in July 2020, before Rennie's birth, David admitted that he regretted the parenting mistakes he made with his daughters.
“I missed out on a lot because I wasn’t raising them,” explaining that he was often away for work. “The geography was really difficult.
“It was my own doing and I regret it, but it was what it was and there was nothing to do about it,” he continued.
He said he wanted to be more present but was “doing the best I could, which was pretty imperfect at times.”
