Airplane passenger sparks anger after using flashing phone charger on six-hour night flight

A woman's angry actions on a night flight raised the ire of several passengers around her – but people who saw a report of the incident were shocked, with no one confronting her over her “selfish” behavior.

An American traveler said she was on a stressful red-eye flight and the person in the seat next to her had a brightly flashing phone charger plugged in.

The clear wire contained flashing rainbow lights that flashed in rapid succession throughout the duration of the flight.

After sharing a snap of the incident on Reddit, calling it “a little annoying,” the woman said she now regrets not offering the passenger her plain white charger instead.

“I just pulled my hood over my head and endured it – sitting upright annoyed me more anyway,” she said in the post.

Disputes over airplane etiquette – from pregnant women demanding better seats to a woman who sparked outrage by painting her nails on board, causing the strong smell of nail polish to fill the cabin – resolve with those Those of us who have experienced something similar often react violently out of frustration.

In this incident, many were shocked by the loading woman's insolence, with some pointing out that the flashing lights may have also triggered another passenger's epilepsy.

“Some people are literally the opposite of social anxiety, and it shows,” one said.

“Empathy is a curse. “Why was I born with the ability to be considerate of others when it feels like 99 percent of the world's population doesn't give a damn,” noted another.

“Why would anyone own this? Seriously. “It looks so cheap and the seizure it causes is free… at no additional cost,” wrote a third.

“This is terrible – above all, it is unimaginable to subject other people to this situation on an airplane,” one woman wrote. “I would lose my mind.”

Some felt that a cheap charger might be the only one the woman could afford – but that was still no excuse.

“There are 20 ways to secretly use this cable in this scenario,” one wrote. “For example, simply running the cable through a sweater or shirt to keep the flashes hidden, or putting a blanket over it.”

However, some saw no problem with the powerful charger.

“I have one of those cords. It's kind of hypnotic and I love it in my office. “I could see myself grabbing it by accident without thinking about a plane,” one woman revealed.

“So close your eyes,” said another. “She has every right to live freely.”
