The television presenter Ana Maria Braga, known for her morning show, recounted in a video shared on her social networks a moment of danger that occurred in her home during the heavy rain that hit the city of São last Monday, January 8 Paulo haunted. In the video, Ana Maria shows a branch that broke due to the strength of the wind and the intensity of the rain and ended up breaking a window in her house. This fact particularly worried the moderator, as the employees were very close to the location a few minutes before the incident.
Appeal for security
Visibly outraged, Ana Maria Braga appealed to the Pinheiros subprefecture, the region where he lives and the relevant authorities have taken measures to trim trees in the area. She emphasizes that she has already applied for the cut back several times with the corresponding application protocol. However, it considers that the measures taken so far have been unsatisfactory and have not prevented the event.
“It's absurd. I'm asking for help here. I have a house with lots of trees. And I take care of it, there are gardeners who come here, who take care of it, who prune what can be pruned and so on. And then I call, sometimes I've tried, we have to make a request and be able to crop everything“, the presenter expressed her concern about possible new accidents.
The consequences of the rain in São Paulo
The heavy rain that hit São Paulo this Monday caused numerous problems. According to the fire department, around 200 calls about falling trees were registered in the capital and metropolitan region that day alone, most of them in the southern zone of the city. The highest occurrence rates were recorded in the Moema, Itaim Bibi, Bela Vista, Vila Mariana, Jardim Paulista, Vila Maria and Pinheiros regions.
An even more serious situation was observed in Ibirapuera Park, where the wind caused the metal structure of a festival tent to collapse, resulting in four injuries. The case draws attention to the importance of caring for, controlling and pruning trees in the city, as they can pose a risk to public safety during extreme weather events.
