Israeli forces kill 40 Hamas terrorists in latest operation, locate weapons cache and underground tunnel – Fox News

Israel announced that its forces killed dozens of Hamas terrorists in Gaza on Monday, the latest fighting in Israel's war with Hamas in Gaza.

Israeli forces said they killed about 40 terrorists in 24 hours during their expanded ground operation in Khan Younis in the Gaza Strip. Officials said soldiers also found various weapons caches in an underground tunnel network used by Hamas.

“Last day, IDF troops expanded their ground operations in Khan Younis and carried out attacks that killed about 40 terrorists,” the IDF wrote on Telegram.

“In addition, significant terror tunnel shafts were located as well as a variety of weapons, including 12 AK-47 rifles, four loaded RPG launchers, dozens of grenades, cartridges and military vests,” the statement continued.

The IDF also said it “carried out a targeted raid on a military compound in Khan Younis” and that the Israeli navy “attacked military posts, storage facilities and ships belonging to the Hamas naval force.”

The targeted attack was the latest in a wave of violence in the Gaza Strip since Israel launched a counteroffensive against Hamas, initially triggered when Hamas-led forces entered Israeli border communities on October 7, 2023, in Hamas' largest attack against the Jews started state.

Israel reports that 182 of its soldiers have been killed in the fight against Hamas terrorists in the Gaza Strip.

The Hamas-run Ministry of Health in Gaza says more than 23,000 Palestinians have been killed by Israeli forces since October 7.

Civilians were repeatedly caught in the crossfire of the conflict, thousands were injured and many others were taken hostage by Hamas and raped, tortured or murdered.

The international community continues to pressure both sides to seek peace or agree to a ceasefire to ensure the safe release of the hostages and ensure humanitarian care for these civilians.

Israeli forces, which have secured operational control of the northern Gaza Strip, said the war with Hamas could continue for several months.
