A 66-year-old man appeared in court on Tuesday to answer to 12 charges of sexually molesting young boys. The actions date back some forty years and occurred when he held a leadership position among the cadets.
According to the Sûreté du Québec (SQ), Raymond Nadeau faces six counts of indecent assault and six additional counts of gross indecency for alleged actions against six victims who were under 16 years old at the time of the crime.

The events occurred between January 1978 and September 25, 1981 in Saint-Gabriel-de-Valcartier and at various locations in Beauce. Authorities said Nadeau took advantage of his status as a cadet instructor to abuse young boys.
“The investigation tends to indicate that the suspect may have caused additional victims,” specifies the SQ.
“I’ve been waiting for 45 years”
One of the six complainants attended the appearance at the Quebec courthouse on Tuesday by Raymond Nadeau, who was present via video conference from a train station in Sûreté du Québec. When five of the alleged victims requested the issuance of an order to protect their identities, Jean-Paul Maheux wanted to openly denounce this.
“I've been waiting for this for 45 years,” the man, now 57, admitted, choking back a sob as he left the courtroom.
Raymond Nadeau was released on various conditions while awaiting the outcome of his trial. He will return to court next April.

The 66-year-old defendant spent several years at the helm of the company Le Concierge, which he founded in 2003 and which offered private concierge services. According to the company's website, Nadeau left the company's executive board in 2020. The company has since changed its name to Royale Diligence.
In recent years he also founded a networking company.
