This new Lenovo PC hints at a future where Windows and Android work together in harmony. So far it's been a bit complicated.

The idea of Windows and Android coexisting on the same PC has always seemed a bit unattainable. In the past, Windows-Android dual boot never really caught on. We can assume that Microsoft imposes restrictions on this type of configuration, otherwise we would have already seen PCs flourish with Windows GNU/Linux dual boot options by default. However, it is certainly possible to get an Android-only PC, although interest seems to be limited given the existence of Chrome OS. But hey, there are specific needs for everything.
The advantages of Windows and Android
With its ThinkBook Plus Gen 5 Hybrid, Lenovo offers a new approach that combines the strengths of Windows and Android. It's not a simple 2-in-1 device that juggles between tablet and laptop modes. The ThinkBook Plus Gen 5 Hybrid goes one step further, offering Android 13 in tablet mode and Windows 11 in docked mode. It must be said that the idea of offering both operating systems is not new, this was already the case in 2014 with the Asus Transformer Book Duet.

The Windows 11 compatible tablet dock is customizable and packed with powerful components, up to an Intel Core Ultra 7, 32GB RAM and 1TB storage. The docking station's battery has a capacity of 75Wh. You can even use this dock with an external monitor like a regular desktop computer while still using the Android tablet for other tasks. The tablet, in turn, has a 14-inch OLED screen and is powered by a Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1. With its 38 Wh battery, it weighs 785 grams.

The ThinkBook Plus Gen 5's hybrid keyboard is also compatible with the Android tablet. This merger between two operating systems opens up almost unlimited application possibilities. Lenovo has even included support for a pen and has a dock specifically designed for this purpose.
The ThinkBook Plus Gen 5 Hybrid is scheduled to launch in the second quarter of 2024, but the price is still unknown.
