OHL: Owen Beck is worth a lot on the market

The Saginaw Spirit formalized the transaction, bringing Owen Beck into their ranks, and the Montreal Canadiens' hope was costly.

In return, the host city of the next Memorial Cup tournament sent 16-year-old Peterborough Petes winger Aiden Young, two second-round draft picks (2025 and 2027) and a third-round selection (2026).

Beck is on his third Ontario Junior League (OHL) roster after beginning his career with the Mississauga Steelheads. With 16 goals and 30 points in 25 games this season, the center is on his way to personal highs.

The Ontario native just competed in his second World Junior Ice Hockey Championships. He was discreet, scoring just one goal in five games. The Canadian team was eliminated in the quarterfinals by the Czech Republic.

Beck is the Habs' second-round pick (33rd overall) in 2022 and will compete in the Memorial Cup for the second consecutive season next May.
