“His life is not in danger,” his father tells the Israeli website Walla! quoted.

Shortly before he was wounded, Amedi spoke to an Israeli television station about the war in Gaza.

“It's crazy what they (Hamas) have built here,” he told Channel 12. “The operation here is on a very central route (the Hamas tunnel). Here we find kilometers of tunnels, weapons, even special weapons. “We've been busy destroying it for the last two days.”

CNN cannot independently verify operational details reported by the Israeli military.

The numbers: Nine Israeli soldiers were killed in the central and southern Gaza Strip on Monday, in one of the deadliest days for Israeli forces since Israel's military offensive began in the enclave, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said.

According to an official count, 185 IDF soldiers have been killed in fighting in Gaza since October 7.

That figure is dwarfed by the colossal Palestinian death toll in Gaza, where Israeli attacks have killed at least 22,835 people since October 7, according to a statement released on Monday by the Palestinian Health Ministry in Ramallah, citing figures from sources in Hamas-controlled territory supports enclave.

According to the ministry, another 58,416 people were injured, meaning more than one in 40 Palestinians in Gaza were injured by the war.
