The whole family mourns this tragic event that happened so suddenly. However, Oliver Quick expresses his sadness in a way that is surprising to say the least. While thinking in front of the grave where Félix is buried, he is overwhelmed by emotions and ends up literally penetrating the earth beneath which his friend rests.. From this moment on, the audience understands how disturbed this character is.
This particular scene was entirely improvised by actor Barry Keoghan to “see where his character would go.” It was shot in a single take and, in his opinion, allows the story to progress.
