DooDooDoo at the Mois Multi de Québec: Hear Hubert Lenoir and Lou-Adriane Cassidy differently

Participants of the 25the The Mois Multi Arts Festival presentation offers the opportunity to discover lesser-known artistic facets of Quebec pop stars Hubert Lenoir and Lou-Adriane Cassidy.

The two artists (Lenoir, if his schedule allows) and Alexandre Martel will take part in the performance of DooDooDoo, a group to which they belong and led by the musician PE Beaudoin, on February 9th at the Méduse complex in the Lower City of Quebec .

Born in Tokyo in 2019 during a recording session for Lenoir's latest album Pictura de Ipse: Musique direct, DooDooDoo is an experimental project centered around a 30-minute drum improvisation by PE Beaudoin.

Before becoming a proper album in 2022, this confusing musical adventure inspired Lenoir and Lou-Adriane Cassidy's latest records, released in 2021.

“It allowed us to see the drums differently,” says PE Beaudoin.

For example, a song like “Quatre-Quarts” by Lenoir wouldn’t exist in its current form without DooDooDoo. “I definitely play the drums in the studio and we changed the sound, we tried things,” says PE Beaudoin.

For those who want to be destabilized

In his eyes, an artistically daring festival like Mois Multi represents an ideal moment to present DooDooDoo to the public.

“It's sure that percussion fans will freak out,” says Beaudoin when asked who will appreciate this unclassifiable group, which has already had five stage performances under its belt.

“Fans of electronic music will also like it and especially people who want to be destabilized. It’s even more impressive in concert than in person.”

Pride of Quebec

DooDooDoo is also further evidence of the solidarity and spirit of creative mutual aid that exists among the capital's musicians and is not necessarily found elsewhere.

The success of Darlène, Hubert Lenoir's first album, played an important role in the development of the Quebec music scene, believes PE Beaudoin.

“When we made Darlène,” recalls PE Beaudoin, “we were proud to be in Quebec, we wanted to continue to be there, then the young artists below, Lou-Adriane, Ariane Roy, Valence and a few others, decided to come in To stay in Quebec.” . Everyone was proud.”
