The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) denied claims that two journalists were killed in a recent attack on the Rafah area of the Gaza Strip. In fact, the dead were terrorists.
The information comes from Brazilianborn IDF spokesman Major Rafael Rosenshein.
“In recent days, it has been reported in several Palestinian media outlets that two journalists named Hamza Eldahdoh and Mitzafa Tharia were killed in an attack earlier this week in the Rafah area,” Rosenhein said in a statement.
“Intelligence information in the possession of the IDF shows that the two dead were agents of terrorist organizations in the Gaza Strip who were involved in promoting terrorist operations against IDF troops,” it said.
In fact, the names of the dead are correct. However, the Israeli army has evidence that both were operating for the terrorist groups Islamic Jihad and Hamas.
Eldahdoh “acts as an operative of the terrorist organization Islamic Jihad in Palestine and carries out terrorist attacks against the State of Israel.”
He appears on “a list of the terrorist group's electrical engineering operatives” and “served as an assistant platoon leader in the organization's Zeitoun Battalion and is currently in charge of part of Islamic Jihad's missile unit in Palestine.”
Tharia “acts as an agent of the terrorist organization Hamas in the Gaza City district.”
“A document found by IDF troops in the Gaza Strip during the fighting shows the organizational structure of all members of the organization's Alkadsia Battalion, in which Mitzafa's name is indicated along with his position in the organization deputy squadron commander,” he added.
