An avalanche at Palisades Tahoe Ski Resort in California One person was killed and another was injured. The information comes from Placer County in the United States.

The statement released by authorities highlighted that “no other people are missing.” The debris field left by the avalanche is approximately 150 feet wide and 450 feet long. with a depth of 10 feet. It is still unclear what triggered the avalanche. However, it is important to note that the mountainous region has experienced heavy snowfall in recent days.

Gov. Gavin Newsom reported on social media that the state is monitoring the situation and preparing to provide necessary assistance. He also emphasized that state fire departments are moving rescue teams and resources to the area.

The Palisades Tahoe resort commented on the incident on its social networks, saying that the avalanche occurred around 9:30 a.m. local time on the Palisades side of its mountain. Both sides of the mountain remained closed throughout the day.

Palisades Tahoe, formerly known as Squaw Valley, opened in 1949 and is located in California's Olympic Valley, about 100 miles northeast of San Francisco. The resort hosted the 1960 Winter Olympics.
