Police detain Flixbus near Brussels on suspicion of terrorism

Belgian police were looking for a terrorist suspect on a Flixbus heading to Brussels. There is an investigation into a planned terrorist attack – or so another passenger claims to have heard.

The journey with Flixbus from Lille, France, to the Belgian capital, Brussels, will probably remain long in the memories of some passengers. According to the Belgian police, their units first surrounded Flixbus, then detained it near the Belgian town of Wetteren and finally searched it.

A person on board reportedly heard other passengers talking about a planned attack. The passenger probably called the emergency number. Three men were reportedly arrested, Belgian media reported. No further information is available about the people taken by police.

The other passengers also had to leave the bus one by one – they were searched one after the other. (ed.)
