The rapper is the subject of a complaint from an admirer who claims he was punched after he asked for an autograph in 2022.

Justin Poplawski and his wife, Tiffany Marshall, filed the lawsuit in Los Angeles County Court for assault, intentional infliction of emotional distress, negligence and loss of consciousness, according to documents obtained by The Blast. The incident reportedly occurred on January 13, 2022, in downtown Los Angeles after Justin Poplawski, who describes himself as a “respected autograph dealer,” asked the star for a dedication.

The complainant claims that after approaching the Flashing Lights singer, he shouted, “Get out of here before I beat you up. I’m going to make a fucking example of you!”

The autograph hunter added that Kanye West also mentioned his “fucking divorce” from ex-wife Kim Kardashian. Justin Poplawski also claims that the musician hit him several times and “severely injured” him. According to the documents, the complainant added that he was “lawfully on a public street” during the alleged incident.

Tiffany Marshall is suing the 46-year-old rapper for “unconsciousness.”

Shortly after the incident, a video was posted on social media showing Justin Poplawski lying on the ground while Kanye West screams. Police investigated the incident, but no charges were filed against the Gold Digger rapper. “After a thorough and careful review of all evidence, our office has decided not to file charges because there is no reasonable likelihood of conviction,” the Los Angeles District Attorney’s Office said at the time.

This obviously didn't stop Justin Poplawski and his wife Tiffany Marshall from making their case in court.
