The Régie des alcools, des courses et des jeux decided on December 18 to suspend the license of the well-known bar in Montreal for a period of two weeks. Chez Parée was also fined $30,000.

According to the ruling, agents from the City of Montreal Police Service spent six years, from March 2017 to March 2023, identifying crimes committed within the bar.

“In the present case, the police observed on 40 occasions the presence of members of Outlaw Motorcycle Gangs (BMHL), some of whom wore identifying signs associated with their gang,” said Judge Natalia, describing Ouellette in particular.

Other issues raised include 13 cases of arguments between customers, including three that resulted in assaults on police officers; 11 customers observed with weapons; four customers were seen with drugs and 14 police calls on drunk customers.

Investigators also discovered that the bar's owners let bikers and other known criminals in, even sparing some of them the searches required of regular customers.

The owners have committed to taking remedial action, including turning away criminals, searching all customers and increasing security.
