NFL: With the departure of this renowned coach, an era comes to an end

The Seattle Seahawks will be moving on to a new head coach next season as Pete Carroll will no longer hold that position and will only serve as an advisor to the organization.

This confirmed the end of the 72-year-old's tenure on the sidelines. The team nearly returned to the playoffs this season, but its 9-8 record wasn't enough to qualify, despite a win against the Arizona Cardinals to close out the regular season on Sunday.

Carroll led the club from 2010 and led his team to the Super Bowl at the end of the 2013 season. In Seattle he achieved a total of 137 wins and also had the Seahawks play in the 2014 Finals.

Furthermore, the septuagenarian can probably forget the NFL mark of Romero Crennel, the oldest man to ever lead a team. The former head coach worked for the Houston Texans in 2020 at the age of 73.

According to ESPN, Carroll signed a five-year contract worth $75 million this year. In his 18-year driving career, he accumulated 170 victories in 291 competitions, ranking him 14th all-time in this regard.
