TASS The United States has suspended the supply of weapons and military equipment to Ukraine due to a lack of budget resources to finance such programs, said John Kirby, strategic communications coordinator for the White House National Security Council.

“We issued the last package that we had funding to support,” Kirby said in response to a question about Washington’s military aid to the Kiev government.

“That's why it's critical that Congress move forward on this supplemental national security request and that we get more funding,” he continued. “The assistance we provided has now stopped.”

In his opinion, “it’s a necessity [de mais armas dos EUA na Ucrânia] It’s urgent right now, especially during these winter months.”

CONTINUED AFTER RECOMMENDATIONS

Almost four months ago, the Washington administration sent Congress a request for additional appropriations for the 2024 fiscal year, which began in the United States on October 1, primarily to provide aid to Israel and Ukraine and to combat China and Russia in the AsiaPacific region . In total, the Biden administration needs about $106 billion for these purposes.

The fate of the proposal and the alternative legislation remains uncertain. Several Republicans in the House of Representatives and Senate have recently spoken out against further financial support for Kiev.
