Kid Cudi is seeing big things: On Friday, the day of the release of his new album “Insano,” a giant ephemeral statue of the American rapper was erected on Place de la Bourse in the heart of Paris.

The dark-colored statue, more than ten meters high, shows the artist in a half-messianic, half-demonic posture, his palms facing the sky, his head bowed. The eyes glow red and a lighting device is being tested for installation in the mouth on the night of Thursday to Friday. This work is located at the exit of the Bourse metro station, in front of the Brongniart Palace.

“I love Paris,” the singer just said on his social networks. Kid Cudi celebrated the release of his album on stage in front of his admirers at the Hollywood Palladium in Los Angeles on Thursday night.

“Insano”, a 21-track album, is rich in collaborations with giants of the current scene such as A$AP Rocky, Travis Scott and Pharrell Williams. Older guests hear in the musical background of the title “Electrowavebaby” a reference to “The sign” by Ace of Base, a hit from the 1990s.

Kid Cudi, who will celebrate his 40th birthday at the end of January, recently expressed doubts about his future career on his channels. “I'm making one more album and then I'm done with my contract and not sure what I'll do next,” he posted.

The artist had announced in his networks the publication of a book with his memoirs, planned for 2024. A work that he promises to be “very honest” and that will be about “sex, drugs, love, faith and melodies”.

Kid Cudi occupies a special position in rap and does not hesitate to indulge in his depressive side from his first songs 15 years ago. He likes to break the rules, like when he appeared on the set of Saturday Night Live in a floral dress. A reference to Kurt Cobain (leader of Nirvana, who committed suicide in 1994), who appeared dressed like this on the cover of The Face magazine to illustrate his anti-virilist messages.

The American rapper is a fashion enthusiast, a regular at Paris Fashion Week and artistic director of the clothing brand Members of the Rage. The Levi's muse also got a taste for the picture by participating in the series “We Are Who We Are” broadcast on HBO and developing the animated film “Entergalactic” for Netflix.
