Álex Valera would leave Universitario to join Japanese football

Universitario had several highlights to win the 2023 championship after 10 years of drought. One of them was Álex Valera, a striker who played 30 games and finished the season with 15 goals, being one of the top scorers in the championship alongside Hernán Barcos and Santiago Giordana.

Which clubs has Álex Valera played in during his career?
Álex Valera started his professional career in 2020 with Deportivo Llacuabamba. After a great year with the La Libertad team, the striker had various proposals from the most representative clubs in the country.

Finally he decided on Universitario. In his first experience as a top player, he scored 11 and 12 goals in 2021 and 2022 respectively. His great scoring streak attracted interest from foreign teams and ended with Al-Fateh of Saudi Arabia.
However, he did not manage to settle into the usual team and decided to return to Peru to complete a second stage at the Merengue institution. In this way, when his transfer to Japan is completed, Álex Valera would have his second experience in Asia.
