Cuba supports South Africa's lawsuit at the International Court of Justice against the genocide against Israel in a

The State Department reiterates its deep concern about Israel's continued escalation of violence in the illegally occupied Palestinian territories, in flagrant violation of the United Nations Charter and international law, including numerous UN resolutions.

The Ministry once again strongly condemns the killings of civilians, particularly women, children and humanitarian workers of the United Nations system, as well as the indiscriminate bombings of the Palestinian civilian population and the destruction of homes, hospitals and civilian infrastructure.

Israel continues to act with total impunity because it enjoys the complicit protection of the United States, which has repeatedly obstructed and vetoed Security Council actions, undermining peace, security and stability in the Middle East and around the world.

The Republic of Cuba has been a State Party to the Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide since 1953 and has the obligation to prevent and punish genocide in accordance with the commitments undertaken thereunder.

In this context, expresses its support for the request of the Republic of South Africa to initiate proceedings against Israel at the International Court of Justice in connection with that country's violations of its obligations under the Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of the Crimes of Genocide.

These proceedings before the supreme judicial body of the United Nations must be understood and heeded as an urgent call to stop the terrible international crimes of genocide, against humanity and apartheid committed against the Palestinian people.

Despite the repeated calls for peace in the illegally occupied territories, for 75 years there has been clear evidence of the commission of a crime of genocide, which is currently reaching extreme proportions and requires immediate joint action by the peoples and governments of the world to stop the indiscriminate extermination of girls, boys, women and the civilian population in general.
