A trucker avoids the worst on the A-50 in Gatineau

A semi-trailer truck crashed into the guardrail of the viaduct that spans La Gappe Boulevard on the Guy Lafleur highway after a collision on Friday morning. The three-vehicle collision forced the closure of one lane on westbound Highway 50.

Around 9:30 a.m. Friday morning, a heavy truck got into an unfortunate situation on a Highway 50 overpass near La Gappe Boulevard. Part of the truck ended up in nothing.

According to the Sûreté du Québec, there were no injuries. The SQ states that three vehicles were involved in this accident.

“The collision occurred as a vehicle was entering westbound Highway 50. “Then a truck traveling west tried to avoid this vehicle, turned left, braked abruptly and then ended up on the wall of the viaduct overlooking Boulevard de La Gappe,” said Stéphane Tremblay, information officer at the Sûreté du Québec .

After the truck was towed, a temporary guardrail was installed.

Once the truck was towed, the Ministry of Transport and Sustainable Mobility erected a temporary concrete wall to allow traffic as the metal barrier on site was damaged.

Currently, the Ministry is ensuring that the temporary barrier installed is safe.

The MTQ specifies that the permanent installation will be carried out at a time that minimizes the impact on traffic.
