The Ukrainian government will discuss the country's future with government representatives from around 80 countries in the Swiss ski resort of Davos on Sunday. The focus is on Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky’s “peace formula.” The war-torn country has been defending itself from the Russian war of aggression with Western assistance since February 24, 2022. Kiev seeks the broadest possible recognition of its conditions as a prerequisite for a peace solution with Russia.
The government wants to avoid being pressured into making concessions to Russia before conditions are met. Zelensky's ten-point plan includes, among other things, the withdrawal of all Russian troops, punishment for Russian war criminals, reparations and security guarantees. Zelensky himself is expected in Davos, but most likely only at the annual meeting of the World Economic Forum (WEF), which begins there on Monday night.
