Interstellar: one ending and an infinity of interpretations
Since the release of the film on the big screen, the end ofInterstellar has been the subject of numerous theories (Spoiler alert, skip to the last paragraph of this article if you have never seen the film.) In fact, the situation in which Cooper, played by Matthew McConaughey, finds himself has been perceived in different ways: philosophical, symbolic , emotional, scientific, metaphorical and even spiritual. But the hypothesis that has often been put forward among fans is that the former NASA pilot and engineer sacrifices himself and consents to death by falling into this black hole. Throughout the film, certain interventions suggest that this outcome was inevitable for Cooper. In fact, before his death, his wife told him, “Now our only job is to create memories for our children. […] A parent is the spirit of the future of his children.” Words that take on their full meaning when we think back to the final scene in which the engineer is trapped in a timeless dimension and tries to communicate with his daughter, who neither sees it still hears.

Like other big names in cinema, Christopher Nolan also has his own reason for watching this film. In fact, whether we understand it or not, the filmmaker's creations have the precision and subtlety necessary to captivate any viewer. Secondly, Insterstellar is not just a feature film, but also a real journey through the universe and all its immensity. Ultimately, the film's message is the last good reason to watch it (again). Although pessimistic at times, it provokes reflection on time, space, love and the place and role of the individual in the immensity of the universe.
