The family of a Louisiana grandmother who died in a violent carjacking that left her arm torn off have shared devastating news with her killer.
John Honore, 18, was sentenced Friday to life in prison with the possibility of parole after 25 years for the March 21, 2022, murder of Linda Frickey, 73.
He and a group of teenagers ripped open the older woman's car door and dragged her out of the vehicle.
They sped off while she was still in the car, pinned to her seatbelt, until her arm was severed by the force. She died of her injuries shortly afterwards.
According to the New Orleans Times-Picayune, her sister-in-law Kathy Richard delivered an emotional message to Honore from the witness stand.
“When you take your last breath, the only thing you might hear is the hellhounds coming at you and dragging you back to where you belong,” she said.

Prosecutors declined to grant Honore a plea deal, and the jury took less than four hours to convict him of second-degree murder on Nov. 27.
“Personally, I hope you don’t make it out of there.” [prison]“And that these hellhounds will come after you quickly,” Richard said in court on Friday.
Linda's sister, Jinnylynn Griffin, issued an out-of-court statement after the verdict was announced.
“We got justice. “He got what he deserved,” she said. “He’s a little punk, okay.
“He deserves to go where he's going.” He's a demon and God saw that demon that day. Linda's arm was severed and God allowed her to die alongside good people who loved her.
“We're free of the demons now, and they better watch out for the future demons, because the DA's office isn't playing anymore.”
When Linda was attacked last year, shocking surveillance footage captured the moment four teenagers attacked her car, ripping open the door and dragging her from the vehicle.
After police shared surveillance footage from the day of the attack in search of information, one of the girls' mothers recognized her and marched her to the police station.
Hodges' lawyers tried to make his case, claiming he was an idiotic teenager incapable of making decisions with an understanding of the magnitude of their consequences.
In a letter to Frickey's family, he pleaded for mercy.

The grandmother screamed at her attackers to let her go before her arm was severed and her clothes were torn off
“To the family of Ms. Linda Frickey, I'm John and I'm so sorry, I apologize for making you go through what you're going through. “Anyone's family shouldn't have to go through such pain.
“I made the biggest mistake of my life that day.” I think about what you and your family will go through every day. I pray the “Our Father” prayer every day and night.
“I ask for forgiveness every day.” I've wanted to write a letter to all of you for a long time, but I didn't know what to say, and I still don't know what to say.
“I just want you to sincerely know that I’m sorry.”
“I know words can change how you feel, but I want you to know that I understand how serious this is and that I believe I'm doing the right thing.”
His accomplices were all convicted of involuntary manslaughter and sentenced to 20 years in prison.
They are Briniyah Baker, 17, Lenyra Theophile, 16, and Mar'Qel Curtis. All four were arrested in 2022 after police shared surveillance footage of them on the day of the attack.

At a vigil for his grandmother last year, Rickey Frickey paid a heartbreaking tribute to his late wife after her life ended so abruptly.
“I love her and miss her very much,” he told WDSU. “It’s just hard to carry on without her, she did everything.”
Standing next to her headstone, he continued: “I come here every Sunday morning to see her…sometimes I don't believe it.”
Rickey is suing the parents of four teenagers who dismembered his wife by brutally dragging her behind their own SUV.
He filed a lawsuit to hold the parents “responsible,” his attorney said, and in a newly filed lawsuit blamed them for her death and sought at least $50,000 in damages.
