As part of the renovation of the bell tower of the Saint-Gildas d'Auray church, the Heritage Foundation and the Alre'Orgues association are jointly organizing a concert in aid of the Heritage Foundation on Sunday January 21st at 4 p.m.
“The Saint-Gildas church, built in 1623, has been a monument to the history of Auray for four centuries and has been undergoing restoration over 18 months since January, especially the bell tower,” recall the concert organizers. “An ambitious project, both architecturally and financially, for which a public subscription has been launched with a stated target of €40,000 of the €1,100,000 total cost of the site.”
The duo Nijadel (Envol, in Breton) is the result of the meeting between Fabrice Lothodé (Bombards and Biniou) and Jérémy Simon (chromatic accordion). They are accompanied by Jean-Yves Gouiffès on the organ. “It is a mix of traditional themes majestically presented through the virtuosity of the musicians and their knowledge of dance melodies and Breton hymns,” announces the program, which includes other concerts throughout the year to support the subscription.
