Cuba is pleased to support the Hugs Festival of the Chilean Left

Convened by the Communist Party of Chile (PCCh), the event brings together representatives of the left and progressive world every year to discuss the most pressing issues at the local and international levels.

This is a space for defending the concerns of people who oppose imperialism, the diplomat recalled in statements to Prensa Latina.

The ambassador highlighted the words of CCP President Lautaro Carmona, who called for an end to the US blockade of Cuba and the Israeli massacre in Gaza.

“We have brought together ambassadors from countries such as South Africa, Algeria, Venezuela and Nicaragua at the Hugs Festival who take a clear position against the genocide of the Palestinian people,” he said.

Flags and posters with allusions to Cuba, Gaza and also the Sahrawi people decorate several stands of the traditional meeting, where topics such as citizen demands and the legislative agenda, the social movement and its projections, and the challenges of the youth will be discussed.

The challenges of integrating left-wing and progressive governments, building safe areas for a good life, the fight for the self-determination of peoples and world peace are further topics of analysis.

The diplomat recalled the words of the historic leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro, that a better world is possible, and reiterated that this can be achieved by reigning peace.

He also pointed to the strong bonds of solidarity that bind Cuba to Chile, dating back to the Caribbean state's wars of independence from Spanish colonialism and strengthened with the friendship between Fidel and Salvador Allende.

The Hugs Festival is also a place where you can enjoy music and good gastronomy.

Well-known national artists animate the event, including Tommy Reys Sonora, Inti-Illimani, Javiera Parra Trío, Los Cadillacs Pirata and Murga La Lucha.

Book presentations, concerts, sales of handicrafts, souvenirs and other items can also be found at Parque O'Higgins.

Visitors to the event, which will last the whole weekend, will also enjoy typical dishes from all Chilean regions as well as other Latin American countries.
