A truck driver was injured early Sunday morning after his semi-trailer was hit by a truck at the Saint-Michel-de-Bellechasse service area, about 35 km east of Lévis.
The accident happened around three o'clock.
According to the Sûreté du Québec (SQ), a truck driver traveling on Highway 20 was blinded by blowing snow and wind and did not realize he had taken the turnoff to get to the rest area.

The load carried by one of the trucks ended up on the ground.

The truck collided head-on with a tractor-trailer that was parked at a rest stop overnight; The trailer was torn apart and the load was scattered on the road. The truck continued its trajectory, collided with another tractor-trailer and finally came to a stop.

The occupant of the first vehicle struck was taken to a hospital to be treated for serious injuries, but their injuries are not life-threatening. Everything indicates that he was sleeping in his truck at the time of the impact.
Truckers interviewed by Radio-Canada say the truck stop was crowded overnight Saturday into Sunday due to the storm that hit the province.
The rest area remains closed for most of the day on Sunday.
