Will the Senators play in downtown Ottawa or elsewhere

NHL: A crazy ending to the game between the Senators and the Sharks

The Ottawa Senators gave themselves a scare, but a goal from Vladimir Tarasenko with five seconds left in the game gave them a 5-4 win over the San Jose Sharks on Saturday.

Filip Zadina thought he had sent both teams into extra time when he was scrambled for the fifth time this season, but the Russian ensured that wasn't the case.

Tarasenko used a shot to put the puck into Mackenzie Blackwood's net. This goal also allowed the Senators to end a streak of five straight losses.

However, the local favorite didn't make it easy for himself. They quickly took the lead thanks to successes from Claude Giroux and Thomas Chabot, but the Sharks subsequently flashed the red light three times without conceding a goal thanks to goals from Anthony Duclair, Marc-Édouard Vlasic and Kevin Labanc.

Jacques Martin's team regained the lead on the scoreboard when Drake Batherson deceived Blackwood's guard with 7:01 left in the second period.

The Senators receive visits from the Colorado Avalanche on Tuesday and the Montreal Canadiens on Thursday. With a record of 15-23-0, they are in last place in the Atlantic Section.

The Californians will finish their five-game trip Monday in Buffalo and the next day in Chicago.
