Ronald Acuña Jr. established himself as one of the La Guaira Sharks' biggest figures during the regular season LVBP 2023-24. Despite his good numbers, the National League MVP was forced to leave the National League roster in January due to commitments with his MLB club, the Atlanta Braves. And while it was thought he could return in time for the final leg of the Round Robin, those hopes may be fading, according to recent press reports.
Even without the Sabana, the Sharks have managed to establish themselves as the best team in the 2024 Round Robin, having only lost in one of their ten games played so far and would therefore be close to the Grand Final. But the possible absence of one of his icons is definitely causing some discouragement among Guaireño fans.
Why did Ronald Coin Jr. Wouldn't you return to Sharks of La Guaira?
Alden González, a journalist for ESPN in English, reported via his Twitter account that Ronald Acuña Jr. would not return to the Tiburones de La Guaira because he had other commitments in the United States, including the Baseball Writers Association awards dinner of America (BBWAA), where the player will officially receive the National League MVP award.

Another report in this sense comes from insider Mike Rodríguez, who explained on the same social network that, according to various sources, the Braves denied Acuña Jr. permission to continue playing with Tiburones, despite the player's multiple attempts. The intention of the Atlanta club, the communicator assures, is for the “abuser” to rest and focus on the 2024 major league season.

All this happened despite the Tiburones de La Guaira board having stated that they hoped to have the Sabanero for the final part of the 2023/24 season. Fans were also thrilled by a recent video of the player in which he was seen training at the Isturiz de Cabudare Academy.
