A man was shot on the New York City subway after stepping between passengers to break up an argument, police and local media said Monday.
The victim, 45-year-old Richard Henderson, was shot in the back and shoulder before being taken to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead, authorities said in a statement.
As Mr. Henderson rode the subway home on Sunday evening, he was shot after stepping between two passengers who were arguing on the subway over loud music, according to local media. .
Police said they had not arrested any suspects at this time.
The man, married, father of three children and grandfather of two grandchildren, spent the evening watching an American football game with a friend, CBS reported, citing his brother.
