Lionel Messi reaffirmed himself as the best footballer in the world after winning The Best 2023 award. In an atypical ceremony – none of the finalists were present – the player from Rosario defeated the Norwegian Erling Haaland and the Frenchman Kylian Mbappe. However, one aspect that caught the fans' attention was that the Argentine national team's “10” and Manchester City's scorer scored the same number of points in the overall tally.
Why did Messi win if he had the same votes as Haaland?
