Violence and Occupation in the West Bank

There was already an escalation of violence in the West Bank before October 7th. But since Hamas' attack on Israel and the Jewish state's subsequent response, the quality of life in the occupied territories has continued to deteriorate. As Bárbara Ayuso, special representative of EL PAÍS in the West Bank, explains after the end of the first month of war, the Palestinians in this region are victims of double violence: that of the Israeli settlers who advance with illegal constructions and settlements, and that of the Israeli settlers who advance with illegal ones constructions and settlements advance, and that of the Israeli settlers who advance with illegal constructions and settlements, and that of the Israeli settlers who advance with illegal constructions and settlements which is carried out by the armed forces.

In the video that leads this message, Ayuso and the co-director of the Institute for Conflict Studies and Humanitarian Aid (IECAH), Jesús Núñez, explain how the daily lives of the region's residents have changed since the beginning of the war in the Gaza Strip and why the Sympathy for Hamas in the West Bank has grown. For Núñez, support for the Islamist group is increasing in the region as she “identifies them as the only actor resisting the Israeli occupation.”
