It was a standout night for Succession, which also saw the drama win leading actress awards for Sarah Snook, 36, before the series overall took top honors for best drama series in its final season.

Earlier in the evening, Matthew Macfadyen secured Succession's first Emmy win at the event when he was named Supporting Actor in a Drama Series.

Culkin first rose to fame as a child star, thanks to his older brother and Home Alone legend Macaulay Culkin, now 43, who played Kevin McCallister's bedwetting cousin Fuller in the 1990 film.

He was set to reprise the role in the 1992 sequel and play Matthew Banks in the Steve Martin and Diane Keaton comedies Father of the Bride (1991) and Father of the Bride Part II (1995) – but he seemed destined to stand forever in Macaulay's shadow.

In 1999, he again played a supporting role in the legendary teen comedy She's All That as Laney Boggs' little brother Simon.

His adult breakthrough came in 2002 as the lead in the film “Igby Goes Down,” which earned him his first Golden Globe nomination.

He also appeared in the second season of the television adaptation of Fargo.

However, it was his role as the youngest Roy son in Succession that earned him critical and worldwide praise.

Kieran and Macaulay grew up in poverty along with their five siblings, sharing a room in a tiny apartment.

His parents struggled to make ends meet – his father Kit, a down-and-out Broadway actor, worked as a taxi driver and sacristan for a Catholic church, while his mother quit her job to care for their large brood before eventually got a share. Temporary job as a telephone operator.

Kieran later told Vanity Fair of her childhood home: “It was hardly suitable for a couple.” [let alone a family-of-nine].

“It was just a hallway and there were no dividing doors, except for the bathroom, which had no lock.”

“They raised seven children in this apartment for years.” They kept bringing babies home to this small space.”
